Arbela Man Arrested For Sex Offender Registry Violation

MEMPHIS, Mo.- A northeast Missouri man was arrested in Scotland County Tuesday morning for violating parole.
Scotland County Sheriff Bryan Whitney tells KMEM News that he arrested 60-year old Verle D. Gutting of Arbela just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Gutting was arrested on a Macon County warrant for violating parole by failing to abide by his sex offender supervision agreement. Court documents indicate that Gutting failed to comply with the social media directive of the agreement.
Gutting was on parole following incarceration as a result of a guilty plea in November of 2016 to a charge of 1st Degree Attempted Statutory Rape- Attempted Sexual Intercourse with Another Person Under 14 Years Old.
Gutting is currently being held in the Scotland County jail without bond. He is awaiting transfer to the Adair County jail later this week. Sheriff Whitney tells KMEM news that a new charge of failing to register as a sex offender is pending in Scotland County.
