A Mass of Christian Burial will be said for 90 year old Dwight DeRosear of Memphis at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 1, at St. John Catholic Church in Memphis. The Rev. Simeon Etonu will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis, will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring.
A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. in the Baring Country Club clubhouse.
Dwight DeRosear died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Scotland County Hospital.
Visitation is scheduled from 12-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 30 at the Gerth Funeral Home. The Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. and a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. John Catholic Church and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.
Mr. DeRosear is survived by his children: Bridget and husband Dr. Robert Megna of Forney, TX, Eric and wife Walla DeRosear of Baring, Ann and husband David Gray of Kirksville, Denise and husband George Kramer of Forney, TX, David and wife Melody DeRosear of Belton, MO, and Gretchen and husband Tim Melvin of Quincy; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Fetters (Irene Kazwara) and Millie and husband Ronald Klem, all of Memphis; brother in law, John and wife Marilyn Fetters of Kahoka; 6 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
