Early Morning Camper Fire Near Arbela

MEMPHIS, Mo.- An early morning fire at a campground near Arbela resulted in the total loss of a camper. Scotland County Deputy Jason Moss told KMEM News that first responders were dispatched to The Catfish Place Campground west of Arbela just before 4 am Monday morning for a report of a camper fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a single unit fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control. The lone occupant of the camper escaped without any apparent injuries. Due to the rapid response, no other campers or structures were affected.

The initial investigation determined that the cause of the fire was likely an electrical issue. The Scotland County Fire Department, Scotland County Ambulance and Scotland County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the incident.
