Scotland County Hospital Limiting Visitors Due to Illness

Written by on December 21, 2022

Due to the increase in Influenza and Covid, the Medical/Surgical Unit (Inpatients) at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis will be limiting the number of visitors per inpatient. There will be a sign at the door to the unit instructing visitors to call in to the nurses station to determine if allowed in the unit.

Why is Scotland County Hospital limiting visitors to see inpatients? Many people walking around in the community are asymptomatic (showing no symptoms) and do not know they have a virus. Most disease gets transferred by asymptomatic people. Therefore, you could get the virus or give the virus, unknowingly, to the staff and patients in the building. Protecting vulnerable patients and protecting the healthy staff that are able to work, is very important. In order for hospital staff to be here for you when you need them, they have to take these kinds of precautions. They thank you for your understanding of this continually changing situation.
