MEMPHIS, Mo.- The Scotland County R-1 School Board met in regular session on Tuesday night. Prior to the meeting, the district held a tax rate hearing regarding the levy for the 2021-22 tax year. During the business meeting, Dr. Bergeson presented the district financial update. The board then set the tax rate for the 2021-22 tax year at $3.6224.
The Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan for the upcoming school year was reviewed. The plan was approved unanimously. The plan implements federal, state and local guidance to help the school get back to an instructional delivery model as close to normal as possible. A key point in the plan is that if a student is identified as a close contact but is asymptomatic and has been vaccinated, they will not be required to quarantine. Another key point is that masks will be allowed but not mandated for healthy individuals. This policy will be subject to review as conditions change. The plan is available for review on the school’s website at www.scotland.k12.mo.us.
Discussion regarding the replacement of the front entrance of the elementary building was tabled until the September board meeting.
The board voted to offer full reimbursement to obtain or renew a substitute teaching certificate for any current paraprofessional that has 60 college hours but does not currently hold a substitute certificate. The board also voted to offer full reimbursement of license fees to any current employee that is willing to become a licensed bus driver.
The next regular monthly school board meeting will be September 15th at 6:00 pm.
